Ask a question

If you are considering how to add some style to your sustainable makeup or zero waste makeup routine, look no further than this vintage Stratton "Queen Convertible" Powder Compact.

The exterior of the compact is silver-toned (possible Silverplate, although I can't be sure) and the interior is made of gold-toned metal. The front of the compact has a very detailed relief of a 19th century village scene. I found many other examples of this village scene, which appears to include miners and fiddlers, on other vanity-type items that are often attributed to the silversmith Hans Jensen of Denmark.

- Type: Stratton "Queen Convertible" Powder Compact --> can be used with loose powder or with 67mm pressed powder pans

- Shape: It is round, with 10 indentations around the edge that make it look like a flower.

- Size: The "Queen Convertible" is one of the larger Stratton compacts. It measures 3.25" in diameter and about .5" thick.

- Mechanics: Opens with button on the side of the compact. A mirror is on one side. An open-centered metal lid holds the powder pan or filter in place in the reservoir.

- Brand / Markings: Back is marked "Stratton Made in England" with parallel lines and zig zags pattern.

- Dates To: 1970s or 1980s

CONDITION
The compact is in good vintage condition. It appears to not have been used - or used very lightly. Please review the photos!

- Exterior: Good condition with light signs of wear. Small marks on the back of the compact - not sure if they are tarnishing or some sort of sticker residue.

- Interior: Good - minimal to no signs of wear or tarnishing. Reservoir is clean.

- Mirror: Good - no chips, scratches, cracks, or discoloration.

- Sifter: Original sifter is included and doesn't appear to have been used.

- Puff: NO puff.

- Buttons / Hinges / Mechanics: The button to open the compact works well and everything opens, closes, and snaps smoothly.

- Box: NO box or pouchette.

USE
When considering if you want to use a vintage compact for makeup in order to move towards a zero waste routine, you probably are wondering how you can actually fill it!

To use as a loose powder compact, you can either make your own powder or find a makeup brand with zero waste refill packaging.

To use as a pressed powder compact, you will need to find a pan that is 67mm wide or do a little DIY in order to fit a smaller pan into the compact. Rimmel Stay Matte fits, but you will need to remove the pan from its original packaging (which is plastic). There are many smaller pans that come in sustainable packaging, but you would need to DIY a way to keep it in place.

This compact is so beautiful. It would be lovely as a functional piece in anyone's makeup collection. It's a perfect desk companion for when you want to touch up before video calls!

I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I refuse or fail to collect my package?

If a package is "Returned to Sender", meaning:
    * Package was not picked up and the postal service sends it back after the pick-up window ends
    * Package was refused by purchaser, including, but not limited to, situations where purchaser does not want to pay additional taxes or duties owed

I will provide a refund MINUS the original shipping fees and a restocking fee of 10% of the purchase price, once the item has been returned to me and is in undamaged condition.

If a purchaser refuses delivery of a package or fails to collect it, I reserve the right to not sell to them in the future.

What happens if my package is lost, stolen, or missing?

The Etsy shipping confirmation email contains the package tracking number. The buyer assumes responsibility for tracking the package and ensuring a safe and secure delivery location.

If you would like to have your order shipped with a signature confirmation (at an additional cost), please contact me PRIOR to purchase!

In the case of suspected theft, the buyer should file a stolen property report with their local law enforcement agency and submit a suspected mail theft report to USPS.

Insurance does not cover lost, stolen, or missing boxes after they have been delivered by the package carrier. Once a package has been marked as delivered by the carrier, I can no longer be responsible for it nor provide a refund if it has been stolen.

What happens if my items arrive broken or damaged?

I do my best to pack items safely and securely, but damage during transit does happen occasionally.

If your package arrives with obvious damage to the packaging...
    * photograph the package prior to opening
    * save the packaging

If there is damage to any of the items you receive...
    * photograph any damage
    * contact me immediately (or within 5 days of delivery) to describe the damage and provide photographs
    * save all damaged items and packaging (you may need to send it back to me or to the insurance provider)
    * respond to me promptly if I need any additional information for the processing the insurance claim

I provide a full or partial refund (depending on the extent of the damage) after you've provided the info necessary for insurance.

What happens if I don't want to pay additional taxes or duties when I receive the package?

With any international purchase, there is always the chance that additional taxes and duties will be owed by the purchaser before they can receive their package. The specifics vary widely by country and province. It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay for any additional costs.
